The document I’m holding today is going to be your best friend if you’ve installed solar equipment in your property. It’s called the Residential Green Energy and Efficient Addendum and was drafted by an appraiser named Sandra Adomatis.
The addendum’s creation grew out of Sandy’s frustrations with the fact that all the information on solar-equipped homes she would appraise was difficult to centralize. As a remedy to this problem, she put together this addendum that does a marvelous job of documenting the various energy-efficient items that will impact your home’s value.

Let’s talk a little about what the addendum covers. First on the list is “green certification,” which is to say that the item has been certified as an environmentally friendly product. If you have an Energy Star rating, LEED certification, or a particular HERS score assigned to your home, we’ll be able to document and attach it and hand it over to the appraiser.
Now, very few appraisers possess the actual certification to use this addendum, so establishing that your appraiser is certified is crucial to getting a good appraisal.
Additionally, the document spells out the various energy features associated with the home—HVAC, indoor environmental air quality, and water efficiency are just a few examples.
