Moon Valley Phoenix
Moonvalley is one of Phoenix’s best neighborhoods. Few will argue that. It’s known for it’s large ranch style homes and big grassy front yards. It’s nestled right in the thick of the good stuff which is a big reason why Moonvalley has not lost it’s popularity since it’s inception decades ago when it took form in the 1960’s.
Moon Valley Neighborhood Association
Back in 2011 the Moon Valley Homeowners association changed it’s name to Moon Valley Neighborhood Association or MVNA because it’s residents did not want to be thought of as a typical HOA where tons of rules are strictly enforced. Still, the MVNA website history page tells us that the original guidelines created back in the 60’s are still what governs the direction of the community to this day. A handfiul of the of the 29 communities [including Hillcrest, , Sunset North, and Valle Luna] have their own HOA’s.

Living in Moon Valley Phoenix
Moon Valley is beautifully located in north – Central Phoenix. I don’t know who laid out the boundaries for moon Valley, but they must have been a blindfold and a bag of breadcrumbs involved.
The boundaries meander around from 19th Avenue on the west to 7th Street to the east. That’s the easy part. The southern boundary is below Thunderbird Rd along the Moon Valley Wash. The north border is at East Greenway Parkway. Those are definitely rough borders. Like I said, the actual borders are all over the place and difficult to define in words. If you need a visual map I have two for you. Here’s the City-data website map for Moon Valley. And here’s the Neighborhoods.com Moon Valley Map. Two very different takes on the shape of this neighborhood.
Don’t worry. There are plenty of places to shop within reasonable driving distance. Moon Valley. There’s the Moon Valley Shopping Center at 19th Avenue & Greenway Parkway.
The Moon Valley Plaza is located at Coral Gables and 7th Street. This little plaza is packed with the good stuff including Barrow’s Pizza, Yoga Pura, Moon Valley Bible Church, Anytime Fitness, Lookout Mountain Animal Clinic, Compliments of A Hilton Salon & Spa and more. There’s even a chiropractor and a dry cleaner in the plaza. Talk about convenience!

We all like to eat. Thankfully you have some great choices in Moon Valley. Some of the local favs include:
Moon Valley Grill where you can chow down on Taco Tuesday, Wine Down Wednesday, Prime Rib Thursday or Fish Fry Friday. They have a seemingly never ending happy hour that goes from 11am to 7pm every day.
Moon Valley Cafe has a mean breakfast burro, a biscuits and Gravey breakfast for under five bucks, a cinnamon roll to die for and the grand daddy of all breakfasts. You know where I’m going with this. A Chicken Fried Steak and eggs breakfast that will keep you full all day long.
Aiello’s East Coast Italian restaurant on 7ths St & TBird is a crowd favorite too. Some of the entres include gnocchi pesto, Spaghetti Carbonara, Lasagna, Joe’s Famous spaghetti & meatballs. They have a full Italian dinner menu that is almost as much fun to read as the meals are to eat.
Soup and Sausage Bistro has a 4.8 rating on Google from over 310 voters. That has me thinking I should have lunch there today. They’ve got this thing called a hot sandwich that includes homemade bread, smoked sausage, mozzarella, smothered in some delicious looking homemade sauce. Today, as I write this the cost for that is $399. They have a beautiful soup called Solyanka soup. That has sausage, potatoes, onions, carrots, tomato sauce, olives and more. There’s a chicken noodle soup, chicken schnitzel, and lots of smoked sausages that you can order by the pound to take home with you. Yum.
