Search Methods – Old School
Now about finding that home, well, I guess you could go old school.
You could start knocking on doors asking people if they want to sell their house to you. It might take you a while, but eventually, somebody will do it. You could start calling on for sale sides, see if those homes are available, see if they’re in your price range, see if they’re big enough.
That might take a while as well. Or you could do like everyone else does search online. Now, where did the wise, it’s a lot of fun to look at homes on Trulia and Zillow, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had my clients come to me and say, John, I’m really excited about this house I just found on Zillow. And then I look it up on the MLS and I discovered that it sold three or four weeks ago. It happens all the time. So the best thing you can do is connect with your real estate agent and let them know what you’re looking for.
Your Perfect Home List (criteria)
When it’s time to find a home. It’s really good to know exactly what you want and I recommend creating a needs and wants list. So in order to do that, it’s really simple. Just take a piece of paper and draw a T. On one side you’re going to put your needs. On the other side you’re going to put your wants. You might have a three-car garage, you might have a four-bedroom, you might have a swimming pool in your needs side. You might say you want at least a half an acre.
You want it to be in Paradise Valley and you want it to be under $900,000 so you’ll create this list and you’ll give it to your agent. Your agent will create the search for you. And you never know, you might get all your needs met and a few of the wants too. So this is a really good way to begin getting homes to flow into your inbox that are available and match the criteria that matters to you. So those are a few suggestions on how to find a home.
