Uptown Phoenix
Uptown Phoenix is a small and attractive area along Central Avenue that’s bound at the south by Camelback Rd and to the north at Missouri avenue. 7th Street and 7th Avenue represent the east and west boundaries. This central mlocation affords convenience and beauty for all it’s residents.
Uptown Phoenix has Beautiful Neighborhoods
The homes in the Uptown Phoenix Area are in neighborhoods known for their beautiful front and backyards, mature trees, and historic architecture. The entire community takes pride in their homes. Business owners share the same pride that these homeowners in Windsor, and Medlock Place have.

Living in Uptown Phoenix
Windsor Square Neighborhood
For the most part Windsor Square is bound by the west at Central Avenue and east 7th Street. It runs from Camelback on the southern end up to Oregon Avenue to the north. There’s about 260 homes. Some historic, and some newly built. In recent years the community has convinced the city of Phoenix to block off some of the entry points to the neighborhood that previously caused drivers to cut through the area going too and from Central and 7th Streets. This makes for a more peaceful neighborhood.
Every year there’s a big home tour. It’s quite the show. They bring in live music, food trucks, face poainters, and lots of hooplah for the kids to put up with their parents while touring the dozen or so homes that are on tour each year. The tour takes place in March when the weather is comfortable and the blossoms are charging the air with their scent. It’s a great time to see Windsor. Don’t miss it.
Visit the Windsor community website to find out more about neighborhood events, etc. If you would like to forego the big annual tour we can arrange your own private tour too. Just pick out a few homes and we’ll see to it that the doors get opened up so that we can get you iside to take a closer looMedlock Place has easy walking access to Uptown Plaza at Central and Camelback. Aj’s Fine Foods is the anchor tenant where gorgeous foods are currated for your best home cooked meals. It’s exceptional, trust me.
One of the great places to eat there include Zooks for the most incredible breakfast invention on planet earth. Go there and have one of their proprietary egg sannies; you’ll swear you were in heaven at God’s own table.
The Shake Shack, Lou Malnati’s, Chula Seafood, Elly’s Brunch & Cafe, and Chipoltle are some of the well known places to dine there.
Have desert at The Creamestry, or Scoopwell’s Doubar. Have a killer brewski at Huss Brewing Company.
Medlock Place Neighborhood
Like it’s neighbor, Windsor Square, to the east Medlock is a neighborhood where you can walk to your favorite restaurant. And although Phoenix is not known for it’s walkability, Melrose Place certainly is one of the finer exceptions to the sprawl.
Uptown Plaza
Trot across the street and have a cheese platter and drinkypoo at Postino with friends. Have the spicy Thai fishcakes, Hawaiin Lobster Bisque, Kalbi ribs, Jawaiian Jerk Pork plate and a drink at Hula’s Modern Tiki on 7th street.
Stay on that healthy diet with a little help from MAD Greens at Central & Camelback. The Windsor has a mean Reuben, Pork sanny, and Crabcake BLT that’ll have you lickin your chops and making you want to skip brushing your teeth so that you can enjoy the flavor until you fall asleep.
Here are some of the drive times you can expect from this convenient location
- Downtown Phoenix – 5 minutes, maybe 10 in rush hour traffic.
- Sky Harbor International Airport – 20 minutes and you’re up up and away
- Light Rail Stop – Seriously, you can walk to that stop at Centralo and Camelback in 5 minutes
- Scottsdale – drive east for about 22 minutes and you’ll be there
- Arizona Biltmore – a 10 minute bike ride will get you there. If you plan on golfing you’ll have to toss your bag in your trunk and drive there. Two courses: the Links, and the Adobe. There’s a great drinking hole at the turn where you can rub it in after you destroy the competition.
- The Phoenix Zoo – you can get there in 20 minutes. Lions, and tigers, and bears will be there to greet you. Make sure to see all the monkeys. It’s a beautiful zoo. Local mommies buy family passes and frequent the place.
- Quartz Ridge Trail – Skip the gym and hike the backside of Piestewa Peak [previously known as Squaw Peak]. Lots of people hit these trails. Some walk, some hike briskly, and some actually run up and down these well traveled paths for their daily exercise.
